Understanding the Marumali Program®

The Marumali Program® is a culturally grounded, trauma-informed workshop designed to empower First Nations service providers to offer safe, appropriate, and effective support to Stolen Generations survivors, their families, and communities.

This four-day intensive training equips participants with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to respond to the unique social and emotional challenges faced by survivors. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the intergenerational impacts of forcible removal policies and develop culturally appropriate healing strategies that respect survivors’ rights to lead their own healing journey.

What You Will Learn

Assessing and supporting social and emotional wellbeing – Understand the complex factors affecting survivors and how to offer meaningful support.

Healing strategies for trauma and intergenerational trauma – Learn evidence-based approaches that empower individuals, families, and communities.

Risk and protective factors – Recognise key risk factors for survivors and explore protective mechanisms to strengthen resilience.

Culturally safe referrals and holistic support – Identify appropriate healing pathways that respect cultural identity and the survivor’s right to control their journey.

Develop confidence in discussing grief, loss, identity, and cultural reconnection in a way that affirms and strengthens identity.
This transformational learning experience provides a safe and supportive space for participants to reflect on the impacts of colonisation and trauma, share insights, and build confidence in their role as facilitators of healing.
