Program Insights
The Marumali Program® is an evidence based, culturally grounded and trauma informed healing program created for Stolen Generations Survivors, their families and descendants.
Grounded in the Marumali Journey of Healing Model, a Survivor led and developed model created from lived experience, the program provides a culturally safe space to understand the impacts of colonisation, forcible removal, the Stolen Generations and intergenerational trauma.
The program recognises that the impacts of removal can continue across generations, affecting connection to family, culture, identity, community and Country. It supports participants to understand these experiences while recognising the strength, resilience and cultural knowledge that exist within individuals, families and communities.
What you will learn
Understanding history and its impacts - Explore the history and lived experience of the Stolen Generations and how the impacts of removal, separation, grief and loss can continue across generations.
Understanding intergenerational trauma - Develop a deeper understanding of intergenerational trauma and how experiences of the past can affect individuals, families, relationships and communities today.
Understanding your own healing journey - Explore healing in a culturally safe environment that respects each person's experience, choices and right to determine the direction and pace of their own journey.
Skills and knowledge you will gain
Understanding trauma - Build a greater understanding of trauma, grief, loss and the ongoing impacts of past policies and practices on Stolen Generations Survivors, families and descendants.
Exploring the Marumali Journey of Healing Model - Learn about the Marumali Journey of Healing Model and how culture, identity, family, community and Country can support healing and reconnection.
Strengthening identity and connection - Explore the importance of identity, belonging, culture and connection and the role these can play in healing and wellbeing.
Recognising strength and resilience - Recognise the strength, resilience, knowledge and cultural connections that have supported Stolen Generations Survivors, families and communities across generations.
Supporting healing across generations - Build understanding of how healing and reconnection can strengthen individuals and families and help create stronger pathways for future generations.
The Marumali Program® creates a culturally safe space for Survivors, families and descendants to learn, reflect and better understand the impacts of the past and their own journey of healing.
The program recognises that there is no single pathway to healing. Each person's experience is different, and each person has the right to determine what healing means for them. By strengthening understanding, identity, culture and connection, Marumali supports healing that can extend beyond the individual to families, communities and future generations.
Who Should Attend?
This program is designed for Stolen Generations Survivors, their children, grandchildren, descendants and families, and First Nations community members who have experienced the ongoing impacts of removal and intergenerational trauma.
