About Maruamli
The Marumali Program® was founded by Aunty Lorraine Peeters, a survivor of the Stolen Generations. This program is a beacon of hope, offering a culturally safe, trauma informed framework that supports healing for individuals, families, and communities. Grounded in cultural wisdom and lived experiences, Marumali Program® empowers participants to reconnect with their identity and culture, fostering resilience and a sense of belonging. Our goal is to equip service systems with the knowledge and tools needed to provide culturally appropriate support, ensuring a respectful and safe environment for all.
Our Healing Model
Our model for healing recognises that healing is holistic and deeply personal. It is grounded in Aboriginal knowledge and understands that healing is strengthened through identity, culture, family and community. The program focuses on supporting people to understand trauma, to reconnect with their strengths and move foward in ways that are meaningful to them.
For more than 25 years the Marumali Program has supported healing through a culturally informed approach gournded in Aboriginal knowledge and lived experience. Independently evaluated and recognised within national Aboriginal mental health and social and emotional wellbeing initiatives, the program has helped build individual, family and community capacity whilst strengthening understanding of trauma and cultural identity.
Delivered through more than 350 workshops to over 3,400 participants across Australia, we continue to support the ongoing need for culturally informed, trauma aware practice.
