Non-Indigenous Service Provider
Join us for a transformative four-day workshop designed to enhance your ability to support Stolen Generations survivors with cultural sensitivity and trauma-informed care.
Understanding the Marumali Program®
The Marumali Program® at Work – Non-Indigenous Service Providers is a four-day, trauma-informed workshop designed to strengthen the capacity of individuals and organisations to support Stolen Generations survivors and their families in culturally safe and effective ways.
Grounded in the lived experience and teachings of Aunty Lorraine Peeters, a Stolen Generations survivor, the program equips non-Indigenous professionals with a deep understanding of the history and impacts of forced removal policies and how these continue to affect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Knowledge and skills gained:
– Understand the systemic and intergenerational impacts of child removal
– Reflect on institutional practices and embed long-term cultural capability
Participant outcomes include improved cultural responsiveness, greater confidence in engaging with survivors, and stronger commitment to respectful, rights-based service delivery.
Learning Outcomes
Cultural Responsiveness and Engagement
Participants will develop a comprehensive understanding of the cultural, historical, and systemic factors affecting Stolen Generations survivors. The workshop emphasizes the importance of culturally responsive practices, equipping attendees with strategies to engage respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. By the end of the program, participants will be adept at identifying and mitigating risks of re-traumatisation, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for healing.
Through interactive sessions and guided discussions, attendees will gain the skills necessary to integrate culturally appropriate practices into their daily work. This includes learning to recognize the signs of trauma and understanding how to apply healing-informed strategies that respect the cultural context and lived experiences of survivors. The program fosters a deep appreciation for the resilience and strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, encouraging participants to reflect on their roles in promoting cultural safety and healing.
